In-laws had boat supposedly sold on ebay twice and both times buyer never contacted and thier attempts to contact were unsuccessful. A friend has sold 2 and purchased 1 on boattrader and been very pleaed. I have heard both are a little expensive, and stories go both ways on each. I believe with ebay can only do for a short time and boattrader is until sells.

I never sold a boat but I did sell my truck on ebay. I got a decent prise for it and it all went well. I did remember the Ebay fee's being a little high, but other then that the sale was easy.

Thanks for the advice. I have it listed in the boat trader, but I think Ill hold off on Ebay. Looks like it would cost about $50 or more.

Bought my 1996 Mako 17 on Ebay last year. Transaction went great. However, I had the major luxury of inspecting the boat first because the seller was about an hour away from me in New Jersey. Personally, I don't think I would ever buy without inspecting. However, I bet you would be surprised at how many people close to you are on Ebay looking and would be willing to buy especially after an opportunity to see the boat in person.

I have sold 12 or so boats on e-bay,(and bought 5) I request a 300 paypall payment at time of sale(if its buy it now listed) this slows down the dreamers. I have only had a couple of halfway sour deals and thats before I learned to request a emediate payment. It costs around 80 bucks to sell your boat. If its a parts boat it costs a lot less.

YOur pictures will help sell your item so dont scrimp on the pics.

Thanks Dave. What kind of problems did you have getting payment? Did you get many people that wanted to inspect it first? I dont mind that but would hate holding up another sale for someone that could not see it for a week or so after auction then not want it. Im thinking of people out of state. Did you ever have these sorts of problems?

I take at least 12 pics and try to give a good discription. I also price it neer wholesale. I put the buy it now price low enough so that whomever gets the boat feels they are getting a bargin. If you need a home run on a boat I suggest a different path. dave.
