  • Yamaha Flushout Question

My new, (96) 150 Yamaha SW Series has a built in fresh water flush-out connection. Does anyone know if the motor has to be in or out of the water when fluhing? I am assuming out of the water. Any info would help. Thanks.

It can be flushed in or out of the water, althouth if done in the water you are only flushing the top half of the engine. I read somewhere that the best procedure is out of the water, and to leave it on the hose for approx. 5 mins.

I kinda thought to keep the water pump inlet out of the water so as to not draw salt water in. Thanks for the info! Paul.

I do 10 minutes each, tilted up to the max. In fact, I try not the tilt the motors back down after flushing -- leaving 'em up 'til next time.
