need an opinion. Have a 1986 Mako 224 with original 86 model twin Yamaha 115s. Engines run good, rebuilt carbs last year, had engines tuned, had to replace a corroded timing arm, replace popit valves. All this said the engines have alot of corrosion, paint coming off and look bad. Since engines are running but ugly now I am hoping to get this season out of them and start shopping for another set. My issue is should I get the engines painted and keep dropping money in repairs or look for a set of used. I dont have the funds for new and was wanting to see if anyone had an inside track on how to ack down a set of good used twins prefferably Yamaha with 20 inch shafts to match up controls and transom

Any wisdom on the subject appreciated.

Pete - I have never looked around for anything like 115's cause they would not work for me - but I would imagine they would be hard to find cause most mid range monohulls now would be rigged with a 225-250 single - and probably a fourstroke. I think thats the way I would be looking.
