I'm looking at a Mako 171 Tournament Edition, and I was told that TE means that before the boat was sold it was used to fish a tournament. Is this true or not. It really doesn't matter to me, just curious.

99% sure that's not true--it was a slightly customized (ie came with many of the options) line of Makos sold by the Tuppens dealership.

Thanks Justin, a friend of mine told me the same thing you did about it being an options package. I looked Tuppens website up and they sell boats, but not Makos. Maybe they discontinued them when they became Tracker? Who knows... Thanks for the input.

I am now the proud owner of a 1989 Mako 171, and it is a Tuppens Tournament Edition. Nothing more than a name and some stickers that will be coming off shortly.
