  • patching up screw holes

The previous owner moved the tannsducer 2 times

on the transom of my 191. Currently the old screws

are in the transom with 4100.

I plan on painting the bottom over the next few weeks.

My plan was to pop the screws, enlarge the size of the holes

slightly and pump the West System Expoxy into the holes.

Good or Bad idea. Thanks in advance for taking time to

answer. This is a great forum with knowlegable members

    without attitude.

            captbobb,

I had the same exact question! I recently purchased a 1969 19' Mako from a family member who loved silicone anywhere and on everything. Currently, my boat is in Hyannis in winter storage and with the current forcast, it will be there for a couple more weeks. As soon as I pick it up, I plan on using the 5200 and pulling out old screws that are no longer needed i.e. old trans mount etc. and sealing them up. Even in the inside of the boat, over the years you can see where there were once rod holders screwed to the inside walls and are now open screw holes. Ideally, I would love to go through the entire boat and clean, bore and seal every hole I could which is probably what I am going to do before I launch this spring. Let me know what you decide on hole filling and how you make out. I probably won't get to mine until first week of April.

            Good Luck.
