  • What the purpose of the foam?

Hello, my 1972 Mako 22' has foam in the sides of the hull. I want to add rod storage by cutting out a 2x8 foot section of the liner and throw in a compartment. Does that foam serve any structural purpose? or is it safe to cut away?

It serves as a sound deadner, flotation and add's rigidity to the boat. You will be fine doing what you want to do.[]
