  • Bilge Hose

I have added a second bilge pump and automatic float this winter for peace of mind. I need about 10' of 1 1/8" hose. Where is the best place to purchase? I have looked at the box stores. They don’t carry 1 1/8. I know not to use the ribbed plastic hose. I am just having a hard time finding suitable hose.Any suggestions

    Any suggestions?

Larry, I'm looking for the same thing. I need 20' of 1 1/8" for a pair of 2000 gph bilge pumps and have not been able to find that size in the clear tubing with the nylon reinforcing thread running through it.

West has the clear nylon reinforced stuff up to 1", but no 1 1/8" []

The closest I've found is this hose from West Marine:

    http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...roductId=24981

It is similar to the OEM tubing on my Parker, in that it is smooth inside, but has a plastic (I think) helix inside it that keeps the tubing from collapsing when going around bends.

If you find what youre looking for, let me know because if I can't find the clear reinforced stuff, I'll be buying the stuff up above for my project.

    Good luck!

      Thanks Captain Kevin,

I have sent Warthog5 an e-mail asking for a supplier. He has not responded yet. When I find something I will contact you.

Good point. Maybe I'll check some of the other area marine stores before settling. []

          Thanks!

larry, I'm not sure where the best deal is. However I have not been able to find the clear hose with red or blue stripe reenforcement in 1 1/8in.

What I have found in 1 1/8in is the white sanitation hose at West Marine. This is a smooth bore hose. It's also smooth on the outside and would be easy to keep clean. This is what I'm planning to use in Hammertimes boat.

If you were to try and use the 1in clear w/ reenforcement in it. It will work if you heat the ends of the hose to slip over the pump and thruhull, but we are defeating the purpose of the 1 1/8in as the 1in would flow less and we don't want that.

This is pretty much what Kevin posted in the link, but I'm not sure if it's the white stuff. Keeping dark colors out of the bildge will make it bright and clean looking. Some people may not care about their bildge being clean looking, but I know there are a few that do and it's a reflection on you and your work.

Guys, I think I found the hose we are looking for...

ROLLERFLEX (TM) 145 HEAVY DUTY PVC BILGE LIVEWELL HOSE (in clear)

                  or

ROLLERFLEX (TM) 148 PVC SANITATION HOSE/FDA (in white)

Both items are smooth inside and outside. They have a plastic helix sandwiched inside which allows for a 3" radius turn without kinking.

Still searching for an online supplier... []

Edit: Sizes from 3/4" to 2" can be found here:

                  http://www.sisweb.com/vacuum/sis/rollflex.htm

                  Unfortunately, no 1 1/8" []

I like the type 148 as it's cleaner looking.

I might have to go with the 149 it will blend in nicely with the grime...if I stay with black everything will be nice a neat.[88]

It's my openion that the 148 with a smooth outside will clamp better than the 149.

Stay away from anything with ribs on it. The clamp will bite down on an angle and it can dig into the groove and tear thru the hose creating a leak. I put this shit on my boat and it's coming out as soon as I have the time to do it.

better to try and find the reinfirced plastic like the one below Someones gotta have it in the size we need.

The white sanitation hose is good but does not bend that easily in the bigger diameters. I tried it for plumbing my livewell and could not make it work. Back to square one []

I'm pretty sure that Lowes or Home Depot has it in 1 1/2in for your drain's Strick, but finding the 1 1/8in is the $64 question.

Good point on the ribbed outer. What happened to you is kind'a what I was thinking, but now you gave the proof.
