  • Differences in 20B and 20C

Great site! I just bought an 83 Mako 20. Maybe its an 84. What are the differences between a 20B vs. 20C. I think they both have the 60 gal fuel tank, fold down transom splash door and corner storage for batteries. The 1984 Brochure in the Ref section indicates those were new features but I think the B already had them. Maybe the fish well and casting platform is different?

    Mine has a white interior.

Also wondering what the change was from 1888 to 89 when the weight went up from 1775 to 2150. Higher gunnels?

Hope someone can jump in with some info.

I just bought what I thought was a 1983 20B. Then I started thinking it was a 1984 C model built in 83. I measured from the hull center line to the top of the transom. It's 25 inches, which according to the Mako Specs started in 1989 with the 201 The plate on the side says "Mako 201". The serial number is 139380483-M20C (then written vertical is "083".

      What do I have?

I have a few Mako brochues rom that era. I'll look to see what I can dig up. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have some of these Mako brochures on the web for everyone to view.

Thanks. I just called a dealer. He said that the Mako website specs are probably wrong. That I have a 1983 20 C model (even though 83 was a B year.) He also belives that C models have 25" transoms (even though Mako lists it as 20"). Found the other set of serial numbers in the anchor well. They match.
