  • Fogged the Merc. today...

For those who were involved in the conversation a few weeks back. I finally picked up some Valvetect fogging oil today and treated the cylinders on the Merc. I put about 1 oz in each cylinder and tunred the flywheel about 50 revolutions.

Hopefully in the next weeks I'll get to building a motor stand for the Merc and I can wheel her out to the Mako and hook the harness and oil tank up with a remote fuel tank and fire her off for a few minutes. I'll put the fogging stuff in the correct way when I do that.

Is this "Valvetect fogging oil" a Mercury product? Or is it some super top secret good stuff? I have never heard of this fogging oil.

Just the first can of fogging oil I found on the shelf at West Marine (the only boat type place open yesterday). It was $5 for the can. Not too super high priced.
