  • Why a Mako Hull over Today's Manufacturers

Please help! I need some help convincing my wife that a 70's or 80's Mako Hull is preferable to a brand new Sea Pro, Sea Fox or Sea Hunt. What is the difference in materials, structure, etc. that makes completely sane people willing to put themselves through the days, weeks and months of work (not to mention the money) to refurbish a Mako Hull vs. buying a brand new boat (allbeit, likely a smaller boat for the same money)?

I'll pass you on to a similar thread.

    http://www.classicmako.com/forum/top...?TOPIC_ID=2921

For me ... I'll run my '77 Mako 250 against any 25 hull out there, new or old, for ride. And it sure is fun .... []

Thanks Rude! I saw that Topic and have used it to convince her to let me take on the project so long as the neighbors don't complain too much!!!

I would appreciate your thoughts or anyone else's on the benefits of the Mako classic Hull construction verses the hull materials and design you see in the newer manufacturers nowadays.

Thanks again! This board is great, and I hope yall don't mind if I continue to learn from yall in the future.

You'll have a classic boat respected, valued, and wanted by many, whereas the sea pro is just another commodity boat that every average Joe might buy. Your own blood sweat and tears will make you very very proud of the finished product. Maybe that's what she's worried about, that you'll lust after your own boat..once you get it done. [:x)]
