  • "Tough" nonskid paint

I have been searching for nonskid products and came across this paint below. One of the deckhands on our supply boat sent up an empty can for proper disposal. We run these boats pretty hard with piping and 4 ton loads and the decks look pretty good. The deck hand says they just paint over this stuff once every two years or so. Got the website from the paint can:

    http://www.nonslipcoating.com/marine.htm

Sent them an email to ask if the paint could be painted over and if the paint would stick to properly prepared painted surefaces. Answers:

    Artie,

Yes, Durabak can be painted over existing paint. Just roughen well (80 grit) and clean with xylene or acetone. Durabak will bond extremely well. Durabak can be painted over with polyurethane. Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.

    Thanks,

    Jake

    The Durabak Company

It's a little expensive, but I know it's very durable. Any thoughts?

I have heard it can be hard to clean. Just what I heard, no confirmation.

I'm hoping to get Interlux Brightside Polyurethane on top of it. That contains Teflon and is suppose to make cleanup easy. I guess I'll find out the hard way.
