    Appears to be, this is a heavy duty bronze valve, and from all appearances factory. I've had the boat since '85, it's a 76/77 model. I've seen the lever action valve you describe and will replace mine with that once removed but that's the question. I've got to start from the mushroom fitting on the outside of the hull. Can't break that loose.

    I have never seen a gate valve being used like you are talking about. Maybe one of the other guys may know what this looks like and how it's rigged. Regardless, it's got to be two seperate pieces joined together at the transom or just inside somehow. Hopefully it's not something something permenant.
