  • FYI, a new coating for alum instead of wax I tried

Arctek's post reminded me of something you guys, being that we all seem to be anal rententive about our makos, may want to be aware of...

Instead of waxing all the alum on my boat this year (I usually use Collinites) I decided to try something different.

A friend told me of a product called everbrite....its a nylonic polymer coating that is supposed to last at least 5 years without yellowing, chipping, cracking, or peeling.

The application is extremely easy...albeit you have to first wipe everything down with xylene, then denatured alcohol. It sets up for a second coat in about 20 minutes. I peeled back my top and went at it. My alum was in A- to A shape before application, it looks very good at the moment, alot of the 'waterstains' were hidden....time will tell.

Just thought some of you might want to know - more info at

And no...I have no affiliation with this company....
