  • Mako 258 For Sale *SOLD*

Selling my 1982 258, located in New Jersey

Major overhaul a few years back. Unfortunately, the engine needs work. One cylinder has 50 psi compression and it idles rough. Still a good candidate for a re-power or a overhaul. Just not for me....I need a bigger boat for the family now.

Id like to get $6,000. That's less than I paid for the electronics.

    New in 2012:

    New Divinycell core hardtop

Windshield glass replaced, frames blasted and powder coated

2 - Lowrance HDS7 units with Insight maps

    Lowrance 3G Radar

    Rate Compass for radar Overlay

    Lowrance SonicHub w/blutooth

    Lowrance Sirius weather module

    New Hatch for Cuddy

New Teak hatches and companionway doors

    New Steering Wheel

New High Perf. stainless Lenco Trim tabs with indicator switch

Fiberglass filled, faired, and painted Awlgrip rub rail up.

1K Airmar tilted element thru hull transducer

    New custom switch panel

Only if I could see myself in a Cuddy. My 250 would be prefect on the back. Any other picture of helm, interior or bottom?

I know Im in the wrong place to bash center consoles but Ive realky enjoyed the dry storage and a place for us to take a nap. To each his own. []

Ill post up some more pics. I replaced the headliner and glued Formica to the old plywood cabinetry. I also added a 12 subwoofer and 600 Watt amp to the SonicHub. Im sure Ill come up with more. Its been a blank checkbook boat for the 8 years Ive had it. Still toying with the idea of repowering and going back to twins but the 150 gallon tank has been a limiting factor to our fishing. We regularly take this bout out to 60 miles and thats about 20 short of where Id like to be.

My signature has a link to my project thread for some more pics.

Thank you. Still looking at repower options. Invested an awful lot in this boat.

That is exactly what I was thinking but decided to not mention it. I think you should consider that very carefully, seems that might be the last bit you need to have the perfect set up for your needs.

I have a contract on a 1985 Maho 258 pending sea trial. It has twin 2009 e-tech 150s. Would be a good choice for Repower. If sea trial doesnt work out I will be contacting you.

                    Jeff,

Im right there with triple crown. This is a nice rig and hate to see you loose your dream due to the motor. Youre already up over your waist! Go neck deep and enjoy her. New twin mercs would be nice. If twins are out for you jump up to a 350. Financing terms are good on new motors. Honestly looking at it from a cash flow standpoint its not too far off from time and money spent on breakdowns.

                      For whats it worth.

at 6k for the boat as is and 20k to repower. What can you find for 26k in the used market that doesn't need redone and repowered? I would hand fresh power on it and go, but you may have the Mako sickness of needing a project to keep you occupied.

ARG Marine in FLA gets in a LOT of trade in ETEC motors over the winter - AND is a truly reputable re seller of used outboards, warrantee and delivered.

You could likely land a 250-300, or twin G1 Etec that's perfect for 1/2 new. or less..... whatever and good luck - that's a nice looking boat you have .

Such a clean rig and great fishing platform. If that last 20 mile range is an issue, a new four stroke would give you that plus MUCH more. I'd hang a new suzy 300 and I bet you would enjoy an honest 3 MPG cruise at 30 mph.
