  • Bracket with Swim Platform for 1988 Mako 231

Hi I would like to find a bracket and swim platform that would look great for the boat and would be large enough for us to hang out on.

It will be powered with a 2005 Yamaha hpdi 250 2 stroke.

I would like to know if the transom needs to be reinforced in order to accomodate a bracket, and estimated cost for this.

Please let me know your thoughts!

I've heard of people adding transom knees for extra support, older dusky brackets had them I think, and a full size bracket makes a great swim platform with numerous different ladder choices, mine favorite is a slide in Armstrong type 3-4 step with a separate grab handle to help pull yourself up on. But as far as hanging out and having people hang out back there? Other guys maybe feel different,? but having owned a couple boats with brackets with twins so already 1000 -1200 lbs on there already,I never encouraged my family/passengers to spend any length of time on the bracket. But maybe that's just me..
