  • 1991 Mako 231 Special Edition - Refitted 2016

Pictures can be seen on my ad at THT since pictures on here are a big PITA.

    https://www.thehulltruth.com/boats-s...ed-2016-a.html

    FOR SALE:

1991 Mako 231 Special Edition Center Conole

2016 Evinrude ETEC 250 HO Generation 1 (380 Hours & adding to them)

Extended Warranty on the ETEC until 4/2023

300 Hour Service completed recently by Intercoastal Marine (REPORT In HAND)

    Story of the boat:

This is a very rare Mako 231 Special Edition from 1991. Only 25 were ever made in this color, per Brett Schwebke (Son of ORIGINAL Mako Founder)

We purchased this boat from the 2nd owner in Michigan in January of 2016. It was a freshwater boat its entire life until we brought it to Maryland. We refitted it completely with NEW everything and her maiden voyage was July of 2016. We have logged 380 hours on her since July 2016 and she has never missed a beat.

Motor's build date was 2015, but not sold and put into service until 2016.

The refit can be seen at this thread here on THT: https://www.thehulltruth.com/boating...date-pics.html

The boat is NOT aesthetically perfect. I have filled holes with thickened epoxy where it was required. There are some chips, scratches, filled holes etc. We spent money on the mechanicals to provide us reliability. NO argument from me that it could certainly be finished by painting the hull and topsides. That was not in our budget or in our priorities. Don't get me wrong, the boat looks pretty good, but if your expectation is that its perfect, you will be disappointed. Boat has never been bottom painted.

I pulled the fuel tank out of the boat then cut the fuel coffin box (fiberglass) out in 2 pieces so that I could dig out wet foam underneath and around. Got all the wet foam out from the bow and from under the coffin box. This is when I replaced a broken (POORLY INSTALLED BY FACTORY) anchor box and fish box PVC drain. I set the drain in some new FOAM for protection before reinstalling the coffin box. The areas where I extracted saturated foam, I Filled with new 2# and 4# foam.

The fuel tank was inspected and pressure tested. NO pitting whatsoever. The tank is in AMAZING condition. So I scuffed it up and coated it 3 times with Interprotect 2000E and put it back in the boat with a new Moeller Reed Switch Fuel Sender. The fuel tank was put back with new floatation foam the same way it came from the factory.

Boat tops out at 48 MPH with light load getting 1.9-2.0 MPG

XD 100 Oil (1.3) gallon Tank under console

I have always flushed the engine with SALT AWAY.

-Rod Box starboard trim (New in last 2 weeks)

-2 Sea Dog rod holders on each side of the console

I have a BRAND NEW (IN THE BOX) West Marine VHF radio I will include in the purchase.

The boat has a bimini top frame, but new canvas is needed. I have all the original cushions for the front forward seating, but they are tired and if I were keeping the boat, I would replace them next spring.

I am NOT happy with how the stern navigation light turned out. Candidly I think it looks like crap, but it is functional and I have not taken the time to find a better mount for it.

There is a livewell in the floor at the back of the boat, but the plumbing was all disconnected and I did not put the livewell back into service.

All safety gear is included. An anchor and 50+ feet of anchor rode is included.

The boat will be getting a FULL DETAIL before the new owner takes ownership, but it just has not sat long enough for me to have a professional do it.

The wife and I have a trip planned to Isle Of Palms, SC for Thanksgiving and we need the boat in order to get to our rental home on Goat Island. So it is NOT available for delivery until after Thanksgiving.

I am willing to deliver the boat one way, up to 500 miles, @ NO additional charge.

    VALUATION:

    Hull - $4,500

    Engine - $13,000

    Electroncis / Wiring / Rigging / Steering / Tabs - $4,000

    Trailer - $2,500

Not everyone will think my valuation is FAIR, but I wanted to put it out there with Transparency. Somebody will get a VERY Safe and SOUND boat with many many more years of use. We have averaged 26 hours a month on this boat since we splashed her. She has rarely sat idle for more than a week as we fish all year round.

The Boat will be professionally detailed INSIDE & OUT for the new owner at my expense of around $800. That is a GUARANTEE.

PRICE: $24,000 OR BEST OFFER and WE are open to REASONABLE OFFERS
