Can someone please reply with the ride quality of this 235 compared to a 254. Specs are fairly close on weight and both have a 8 ft beam. I not been privileged to ride on either model.

254 has more deadrise (23 v 19 if I recall at transom), however a 235 is the 'deep vee.'

I have a 235 and consider it a pretty pleasing ride.

Thanks you! I am a Lake Erie resident so any deep vee will beat my 17 whaler montauk all day long!

How about the usable space on the front deck? Most of the 254s i see have lockers and the 235 above seems flat with cubby storage. I fish, but have a wife and 2 kids who like to sit down while ridding.

              You are in luck.

              I own both a 235 and a 17 Montauk, so I can tell you:

              I absolutely love both boats

Whaler's fit and finish is superior

Mako's ride is night and day...I mean night and day better

Mako feels like a yacht compared with Montauk size-wise

Front of 235 has an elevated area that can be used as a casting deck, or can be covered in cushions and used for seating/lounging. It's not "u" style seating, but people can easily sit/lay down in the area.

Also seat in front of console.

Oh, my other observation about front deck space is that the in-floor cubbies are very large...and there are 4 of them.

The front anchor locker is also very large -- almost too large, in that they could have extended the seating area and still had an anchor locker that was plenty big. But they didn't, and that anchor locker can fit anchor and rode plus lawn chairs, etc.

Good stuff there Justin! I really appreciate it. I love my whaler, but I think the 235 would be a nice bump up without getting out of control. I launch myself sometimes, and a 254 may be a little much for me!

Now if I could just get the guy who posted the add to call me back!
