  • Tampa Bay Mako meet up

I have met a couple guys on here and I know there are many more around.

Some had talked of doing a classic mako meet up. Anyone have any interest in this? I would be happy to try to organize something and meet in a central location type place like the cove at Egmont, or Bunce's Pass, or somewhere like that.

    Any thoughts?

I am up for it. I am sure Child Seaport and Z-man would also jump in. I fish out of Johns Pass but can launch from Desoto.

Any thoughts on a time frame to do this? Probably when the water warms back up a bit so we can actually enjoy the water some, and let some people finish their "winter" projects.

I say that as it is 80 degrees outside today.

I was thinking before May 1st. Most likely a weekend. I have several sailing regattas on weekends but thinking maybe late March time frame.

Sunday April 1st I will be coming back in from a Saturday night Full moon trip. I am game late morning early afternoon for a meet up near Johns Pass. I can do other days as well just throwing this out. Of course other Mako boats can come out fishing that night also.

You going to be awake? I believe the last time I passed you out there you were napping!!!

That weekend could be possible for sure. I am around that weekend.

I like to nap on the 30 mile ride back in. Gives me enough sleep to make the 1.45 HR ride in the truck back home. I-4 and 33 suck when your tired. I can always fish Friday and find a place to rent with a slip for the weekend. Then I can just hang around.

I was thinking a Saturday may be a better day for those traveling from the middle of the state.

I will look around and see if I can find a place with a slip, or just find a place and I can help find a place to keep your boat in for the weekend.
