Gulf states agree to 39-day red snapper summer season

3-day-weekend season kicks off this Friday, June 16; ends on Labor Day

As part of the deal, all five Gulf states agreed that state waters would be closed when the federal season is closed, so there will be no snapper fishing in state waters Gulf-wide out to 9 miles on Monday through Thursday this summer (except for the special holiday weeks noted above.)

If I read it all right there will be no snapper keeping Mon-Fri of the Funament.

You can fish on Friday....if it starts this weekend or by next Friday. I think that is still the question as to when it will start.

The extension will allow recreational Red Snapper fishing on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through September 4th, Labor Day

Everything I have seen has said "Official Announcement Expected Later Today". I have not yet seen anything official, and there is speculation on the start date. We might get to keep 17th & 18th and Friday the 23rd.
