  • 2015 Funament Thanks and thoughts

I would like to extend a huge thanks to some folks that helped make our 11th Annual Destin Mako Madness Funament happen this year. Our ClassicMako Funament comittee David Bronson, Brandon Boyer, Steve Arrowsmith, & Tim Savarese were great and this event could not go down without their help. But behind the scenes, and our real hero yearly is Amy Savarese. She pulls up all of our slack and makes all the little and very important things really happen for the banquet. Thank you Amy!

This year we had great partnership with Bass Pro Shops and Mako Marine. I can say that my entire crew had a great time this year and hailed the event and the venues we had available to us as the best yet! The captains meeting and captains bags that Ryan Cox at Bass Pro put together for us were great. I can say I put the BPS 15% off coupon to great use as well as the bowling alley coupon! We had a nice talk from Capt Mark McDuffie about insore tactics and even gave away a fishing trip with Capt Mark! Ryan Cox and his event planners Travis and Angela did a fantastic job putting together our banquet. The dinner and the room were fabulous and the kids had a blast bowling during the banquet. Thanks to you guys!

I'd also like to thank Mr. Ken White from Mako Marine as well as Mr. Terry Hester from Tracker Marine Group for their support and attending our event! Hope to see you gentlemen again soon.

Sponsors. This event depends heavily on our sponsors. So I'd like to thank them as well. Raybo Marine, Coastal Night Lights, Sunshine Marine Tanks, Bausch American Towers, Louvered Products Unlimited, Seawear Jewlery, Yeti Coolers, Joey's Rod Building, Splish N Splash Mobile Pet Grooming, Lakeshore Family Dentistry, Bass Pro Shops, Uncle Bucks Fish Bowl, and Mako Marine!

All in all we had a great event. The weather was great. It was a tad windy, but we had some windows of opportunity to get offshore. I hope we can continue to grow this event. I can't think of a better place to bring the family and the boat for a beautiful summer back drop of sugar white sand and emerald clear water. Ask anyone who attends and they will tell you there is great value and fellowship in our event.

Thanks to all who attended! We will plan for the same week in 2016. We will keep the CM forum and the facebook pages up to date with info regarding next year's 12th Destin Mako Madness.

I'd like to ask a small favor of our members. Without sponsors such as Bass Pro Shops and Mako Marine this event could not happen at a reasonable cost. Please support all of our sponsors! Go to their Facebook pages and LIKE them! Please leave positive feedback and reviews for them!

From the kids perspective they thought it was the best banquet yet. They loved the bowling and the food. They had more fun this year then the three past. I also liked the captains meeting swag we received. Next year I need to work on the speech to the wife about what I need with the 15% off. I am already booked for next year with our group and have three more groups making reservations. Now they are not Mako owners but have boats and want to experience the social bonding and of course crab island.

I have a friend who asked if we accepted other boats... OF COURSE! The old Funament term was "SOB's" Some Other Boat. And yes we accept all. The more the merrier.

I think I spent my 15% off coupon well. Believe it or not, my wife told me I needed a few auto-inflatable life vests and found some that were on sale already and we got the sale price plus 15% off. BOOM! And she got herself a camo hat and gloves. I guess she is going to come hunting with me again. Suits me fine. Hunting and fishing should be a family affair.

I thought the banquet venue was great. Can't wait to do it again. As a group, I'd like to see some of us go and do a official Mako Funament. Maybe Ft. Myers. This year might be tough for me to pull off schedule wise... and I'm already going pheasant hunting in October. So 2 big trips might not sit well with the boss.
