Thanks to Rind Leader and this great site I was able to enjoy a free entry into this wonderful event! Met some wonderful people like Messing About (Bill) and Mako228 (Mike).

I was able to bring home the Mango snapper category and top female angler. The wife was hot stick with several legal; red grouper (released due to season) yellow tail snapper and a monster Mango. The entire even was great with a first class marina (Fish-Tale marina) and great captain bags. Here are some pics and more to follow

I also had a wonderful time at the event, and although my in-shore catches were limited to a few 19" trout and my buddies big sheepshead, we most enjoyed the people like Snapper Gapper and his wife and neighbors. This was our first Funament but will certainly not be our last. Enjoy the captions above each photo. Thanks again to Nathan from Bass Pro Corporate, Ringleader and for sponsoring my entry into the event.

Before heading out from home, I got my Classic Mako 161 Flats in ship shape

Our host Marina for the event. A beautiful facility with friendly, professional staff.

A few of the 51 registered boats in the fleet. Ft Myers became the largest Funament this year

Not exactly classics but there were plenty of nice, shining new Makos to view

It was a gorgeous evening for a bayside barbecue

Friday night's cookout and cocktails featured burgers and dogs, with beer and rum, all included in your entry fee. Register one boat, drink and feed your whole crew! Saturday night was pasta, chicken and marinara but it didn't come close to the fresh caught blackened Gag Grouper that Snapper Gapper shared with our entire table. Yumm!

          George Povoromo's Mark VI, dockside

The Mark VI features a 24" plot charter monitor!

Trop Rock Artist John Friday entertained the crowd Saturday night. Is that an oxymoron or have I enjoyed too much free beer and rum?

The bounty of prizes to be awarded

Mrs Snapper Gapper wins for biggest Mangrove Snapper!

Mrs Snapper Gapper shows off her hardware

          Gotta love it!

Landing a boatload of reef fish on day 2 wins Mrs Snapper Gapper the top female angler award! It's the second time in her career she has won the top slot at a Funament.

Mrs Gapper gives credit to her Captain for putting the family on the fish. Gorgeous prize, guys!

As the evening and the event came to a close, my new friend Mark, Snapper Gapper, gave a tour of his cherished Classic Mako 224, the top winning boat in two categories and the 2014 Ft Myers Funament

I'm hoping to make it to the Ft Myers event here in 2015.

So at least one more classic "Flats" model should be there.
