Best way I know of to check trailer bearings is to jack it up and spin the hubs. if its noisy, you got problems. Then check for heat every gas stop (unless your driving a Dodge Ram with a Cummins...then because of the extended range you need to stop at least twice between fill ups LOL) Check tire presures, tiedowns, transom saver, make sure fenders are tight, winch is secure, insurance is solid, and say a prayer...

The only thing I would add to that is spare hub(s) and grease gun top-off at every other stop [
