I had the same issue with only exception being one 4 year old.I hated it after the fact for sure.

Heck, my kids LOVED the candie table. Maybe add some more Chocolate items and a few cans of JOLT!

Maybe A&E would move the cook out to Thursday night and people could leave by boat for fireworks or just watch them from the deck at their awesome pad?

I'd nix all the ice cream for next year. Also, a "get rid of the left overs Saturday raft up" would be a good idea as well.

I also think we should suggest trying to Sunday to Sunday dates.. June 16 - 23 2013? Gives everyone that Saturday to raft up and hang out with no plans

the saturday to saturday or sunday to sunday thing does not matter to me, isnt up the each family and how the rental is set up?

I can see the point, the candy table probably did cut into the ice cream consumption. I like the candy table thing tho, pretty sure the kids did too, hahahaha[]

I like the candy table too(from a kids perspective, ofcourse[]). A&E Thursday night cook out should be solely at their discretion,as I'm sure Steve agrees. It's a great idea to have everyone together and close to see the fireworks. I do,however, like to view from point. As far as Sat-Sat goes,I know most all rentals give discounts if you reserve those days. I like to stay Sat-Sun but I got cut one day this year.

I think all went well this year! Thanks to Dave for all his hard work.. I only helped with a small portion and really got to see how much planning and work goes into making this event come together for all to enjoy! Thanks again Dave...

I think it was very smart to recruit as much help as possible... we had more help this year than last and I hope we can recruit more for next year... lets face it- it may be some work but its nice fellowship while working together to make it happen!

I had hoped to get a picture like last year of all the captains & each family to put names to faces on the forum for those who couldnt attend. As the event got hectic, I think this slipped a little.

I like the event at Sandpiper, though I know the few times I had to deal with them, they kept pulling the card on me "that I didnt book through them" and were less helpful. (for instance I had a donation package sent there, and they werent going to allow me to have it sent there since we booked through someone else besides them.) Very petty, considering overall they are getting our boat slip money and our business. Lets face it- they couldnt keep owners interested if they dont have them rented- whether we rent through them, owners or other rental agencies!

I think the food was great this year- hats off to the cooking crew- especially Ed & Leo as well as Dave for all the preparations it took. It is very hard to do with little "target" as to numbers and working from all different places. Lots of time taken out from their "Vacation" to get supplies, cook, plan, etc. Thanks again!

I know the aim is to always make for easy & Simple. I know we always end up with too much food, but at least we don't run out!

I like the idea of the "kids candy table" I hope maybe this year we can get even more items beyond candy focused toward children. The fishing rods were a hit! Maybe more items along those lines... If we do the donations again- maybe we'll focus on seeing about some kids stuff!

I know a lot of our crew mentioned they were SUPER FULL by the time the ice cream came out- so I guess just too much! I ate ice cream!

It is always said later that we all wish there were more events. I always shoot for this as we enjoy visiting with everyone while we're down there.. The breakfast thing didnt turn out a lot of people- likely because most arent morning people... I would like to plan more "on the boat" activities... whether its a couple raft ups or something... that way people are more likely to attend and its not taking away from the "boating" time...

I agree that the "scheduled" dates dont make a difference.. people will book/come when they can. Some places don't book Sun-Sun so you dont have a choice. Some make you book Sun-Sun- its not something you can accomodate everyone on... not to mention, some will always miss events due to coming in later in the week!

by the way- we fully intended to "raft up" for the fireworks and even went back and did dinner early and were finished eating at AJ's in time. We watched the "air show" from the boat at AJ's but it started to rain, so we had to go back before fireworks. It stopped raining before the fireworks began but we were already back and docked by then! So, we had a little crowd in the canal to watch the little we could see! It has rained on our "firework" plans the last two years! Maybe next year!

I will try to do a better job of making things clear about the events at the captains meeting if I handle all of that next year... I didnt do a whole lot of talking at it this year due to getting everything together was so hectic and rushed because we got in just before the meeting! (We litterally dropped the boat, family & bags and went over!)

The only suggestion I might add has already been mentioned. Too much food...but it was very good.

                            1 Half the fish

                            2 half the shrimp

3 same amount of gumbo (good stuff and it went well)

4 more chicken nuggets (big hit)

5 And a whold rum cake for each of the cooks (hahhahah)[]

Great time had by the Hodsons for sure.....

I'll talk to them about this. I got them to change the canal from an owners free-be to a money maker! The association's take of the rental income is a huge part of the operating budget and there is some legal mumbo-jumbo on this subject too. But I bet we can help them see the light [}]

Ben I got the same line over the use of the golf pavillion. I told her the only reason I didnt rent thru SPC was their blanket policy of no pets, even tho there are pets all over the place. She backed up then and said they had been looking at that, the pet friendly rentals had been doing very well.

I dont get it, why would it not just be up to the owner, pet friendly or not??? I think they are reconsidering. thanks.
