Headed over to BPS and a few tackle stores when I get to Destin.....what are some good inshore packages you own or like? I doubt I will take the 15 more than a mile or two off shore.

Allen - I think before you start buying gear and tackle you need to decide what, where, and how you will fish most. Since some thug stole ALL my gear a few years ago I know what it is like to start from nothing and be on a budget. Start with what you will do most and go from there. So if you plan to lake and river fish your boat buy light inshore gear before buying a couple king rods for once a year in Destin. The beauty of Destin is it is all there, so you can go many ways. Then you need to decide if you prefer spinning gear or conventional tackle and set a budget. If you get inshore stuff and decide you want to go out the pass and try a king I am sure I'll have a some gear you can borrow. We have caught king, spanish, bonita, bluefish, etc...within a couple miles of the pass. Beth has done most of the catching and does not like spinning gear, so I usually troll (overkill) my Penn 330's. Most of my stuff inshore and offshore in Penn with some Shimano (inshore spin reels); it is mostly mid tier stuff but suits me fine and works well.

Funny you ask Leo because I thought that was just some funny local thing until Troy posted. "Potlicking" is basically stealing someones spot. You hear mostly in in-shore crowds, but when you are in an area that is hot and others see you catching and move in to your area they are potlicking. Same goes if you take someone to your spot, catch fish, and next time out see him on that spot in his boat [}].

I'm headed back over to BPS to take a look around.

Leo & Chuck - I will gladly try anything you guys can loan out for a day or so. I want to try different rigs and see what I like best. I don't ever plan to go too far off shore in a 15' tri hull. I would like to follow Chuck out about 1/2 mile off shore and see what I can find. Mostly, in Nashville, I will be fishing on lakes and rivers.
