  • Fishing Tourney Awards

Guys, what I really want to do is get EVERY kid who participates an award of some kind. I have an idea or two on what I can do with regard to the actual merchandise.

On the ladies, I am not sure how to handle, maybe we can do the same thing?

In the men, thinking limited awards, just top 3 or something. Top inshore, top offshore and a wildcard or something. Lemme hear it.

    That sounds like a winner

Works for me. We can trash talk at Noriega point before the tournament and come up with side bets, beer exchange, etc for the real prizes amongst us so called men.... [][]

I would keep it very simple. I like the idea of all the kidos getting something []

What is the deal with the women award(s)? I don't remember. We couldn't afford....or have time to have awards last year.[V]

I like the idea of giving the kids somthing for paticipating, but you should also give out something for the kids that win. We have gotten away from rewarding excellence and shiffted to rewarding everyone.

          Just my opinion.

I couldn't agree more. Maybe each kid gets something but the bigger fish gets a better prize? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see a kid go home crying empty handed, but there should be some desire to win.

I am not sure. I was just thinking that I wanted to get every kid that got a line wet something to take home that they would remember. Lets face it a 3 year old is not going to beat a 14 year old. So do you have age groups? It starts to get messy.

Based on the wife's and nanny's opinion:

                      0-5 - "Tiny Sharks"

                      5-10 "Little Sharks"

                      10-15 "Junior Sharks"

16 and older you are an adult [] Does that work?

Sorry but the Cox house isn't onboard with the "upward" ideology. [V][xx(]

                        what about

                        1-5 pups

                        6-10 sand sharks

                        11-16 reef sharks

                        over 16 adult

really only need one "top shark" in each age group?

I did this three years ago when ScottC sent a trophy for each kid and it went VERY well. That year we had the most kids ever and it was a lot of fun to pass them out and see the kids reactions. The key is that each kids gets a trophy just for showing up.

                              That was great. [][]

                              Best Jr. inshore catfish.....

Best Jr. fish caught on live bait....

Best Jr. fish caught with left handed pole reeling backwards....

What was amazing is how Steve was able to establish the categories before the fishing started and how the intense competition in the Jr. category wound up with 13 1st places. Very ironic..... definitely the best part of the night though. []
