  • Who's going__Fishing offshore

Looks like my wife, son and myself will be coming down for the funament this year!![][] I am not sure exactly what day yet that will be decided closer to the event. .. But anyway i was sitting here thinking about fishing(as i do every day) and wondering how many of you are planning on going out the pass to fish?? I will be more than happy to take some of you guys out on my 236 (Sailor i owe you a ride anyway![]). More than likely it would be myself and my wife(very competent fisher woman). I can fish six people comfortably on my boat 3 on each side and me driving. We can bottom fish in morning and troll later or just play it by ear. I have enough gear for everyone and all we would need is gas, frozen bait, and refreshments of your choice. Let me know if this is something some of you might want to do.

I will be fishing offshore, I have no idea where to go to fish as far as gps numbers, rigs etc. I will come up with something as far as gps numbers by the time I head that way. I have plenty of equipment if anyone wants to ride with me and split gas bait and ice.

Ed I'm all for that.. You just have to remember i am alot slower than your all fancied up Mako![] Y'all want to bottom fish or run to the edge and troll for some hoo's ?? Or heck we can do both. Would you leave the pass in the dark?? We could run to the edge and be there at first light for the hooter bite then bottom fish later on??hmmm... You got my wheels turning now

J - you won't be slower. His props aren't dialed in and being a semi-v, you can't run that boat very fast offshore anyhow. Let's plan to try to run together. What are your dates of arrival / departure?

Yeah...bottom fish at the edge. We did my 1st year and nothing like fighting an AJ 320' down on conventional reel to find 2" short [B)][:0]. Seriously we caught limit of nice snapper and some grouper bottom fishing with out numbers - we got number to get to the edge and then used bottom machine to find good drops and fished those. The beauty of that is with small limits you catch your bottom fish and start trolling for Dolphin and Wahoo from right there.

Troy - I am hooked (sorry for the pun) on inshore after that last Redfish I caught. Did you go inshore last year? Any luck? We can swap a day in Loco for a day in Carrie's step-cousin-in-law (ie your boat)

We'll be going offshore in the mornings when the seas are good for 50 mph. Got a load of kids til Wednesday and plan to bait up for the rest of the week with them on board. We'll be there Saturday-Saturday and prolly staying over Sunday.
