  • Lake Erie With MiDave & DeepTrouble

Lake Erie became our alternate to Destin this year, and Anthony (DeepTrouble) being a local fishin' nut, with a WORLD of experience and local knowledge provided some EXCELLENT company and guidance in how to fish for Walleye on Lake Erie... He FLAT-OUT KNOWS his stuff about Erie...[)][)][)][)]

Dave's new-to-him Truck & Boat ... but I digress... Will let Dave fill you in on how they performed...[:0][}][]

So without further ado... Here's a few pics of our "Alternate-to-Destin, Lake Erie Adventure"...

And the sun set on yet another fishing adventure with MiDave... Flew home last night, and have spent the day getting ready for a week of Jeeping in Ouray, CO.

Sorry we missed the gang in Destin, but it was a good week just the same...[][8D][] Hope you've enjoyed the pic's.[][]

Met up with Anthony this afternoon and swaped some stainless for a whole cooler of frozen fish. Without his help we would have been clueless. Thanks so much Anthony for your help and OB1 for you assistance in getting the new Ram up to me.....[)][)][)][)]

Like to say what a pleasure and honor it was to hang out with both of you!

The Lake offered up what she usually does from a steady 1 to 3 foot chop to a calming sunset one day, and the next day ripping from the NW building to 3-5s in the morning to a snotty afternoon with 2-3s pushing hard in the south passage with 2-4s and some rolling 5s. I made some calls to make sure the fish were still biting and we all decided the Mako was ready for the real test! Dave didn't push her real hard at first but I knew that hull was hungry to show what she was born to do and thats punch a hole in a wave. Lake Erie isn't gonna let you rip at will when shes angry and dave knew this so we set a course and let her do her thing. She preformed really well and once again I enjoyed the extra room and safty of a closed transom on a hand laid hull that is willing to beat the lake up instead of beating me up.

I think we all rested easy with a few fish in the box, and a water test or two that let the bracket the engineer and the hull show her stuff.

Where I come from she's a keeper and it really has me thinking with the wave busting ability of my 25'4 closing the transom adding the bracket and putting a 300hp on her with a kicker would really be a beast on my home water.

After 38 years and thousands of those sunsets I still find myself day-dreaming of the next trip and what the lake might bring and what my Mako might have to endure to keep me safe and fishing.
