    Funament Feedback 2010

    Hey guys - considering the absence of Steve and the threat of oil, I thought the gathering went well. I have received some e-mails and phone calls expressing serious interest in helping out next year. I want to first be clear that this is more of Sailors baby with a lot of help from Eddie. That being said, here is what I am hearing and thinking. I encourage EVERYONE to throw in their two cents and let's try to take this to a higher level.

    1. We need to get dates and reservations is RIGHT NOW so we have an entire year to plan for.

    2. I think we should have a "team" of folks and divide up responsibility to help relief Steve of a lot of work.

    3. We stay in a much more central location (ie Sand Piper Cove) so not to be so separated

    4. Any and all sponsors are welcome. If the company you work for or you know someone that could donate or help out......don't hesitate.

    5. Perhaps a wife or girlfriend could make some shopping plans for the ladies? That was one idea that was suggested. Destin is full of outlet stores and not all the girls want to be on the boat all day. (NJ Mako's wife might have some ideas)

    I agree on doing a move over to / towards sandpiper cove, where we are all not so spread out.. And I say the same week after fathers day .. I think it would be Thursday June 23- Saturday June 25 or whatever dates people want to do I stayed 5 days this year and enjoyed everyone of them.. Amy & I are also willing to help out next year as well.

      Yea, Moving away from the Ft Walton area would be best as all the fun in the sun is in Destin.

      SandPiper seems to be a very accomidating place and they have a conference room we should be able to use with enough preperation.

      For the dates, let's just make sure we avoid the Billy Bowlegs event. Nothing available for accomidations during that week.

        I forgot about the Billy Bowlegs event even though it was right before us.. that place is nuts then...

          I for sure say we are too spread out. SPC would be a very nice choice.

          Picking dates early, I am considering booking my condo now for next year so it will be a stake in the ground.

          My wife loved the shopping in Destin

          I almost think the fishing tournament is past its day. Sure we can go fishing but in reality I don't think there is a real need for a tournament as evidenced by the few that went.

          I would be up for adding a second social event in place of the tournament, even if its just a nice dinner out. I think that would be fun. I have only been 2 years and each year I felt like I would have enjoyed more social time. I barely got to speak to Loco this year.

            We would love to help next year. A priority for us was to fish, and we enjoy making the trip to fish for something different then in the northeast, the threat of oil probably kept some of the fishing guys away this year. Next year some side bets on the fishing will sweeten the interest. I enjoyed the Saturday night dinner and thought some structure around a Friday night dinner or drink place would be good.

              Back to the real world[V]

              I absolutely had the best time this year.I was on the fence for so long and I'm so glad we decided to go.It was really great meeting everyone.New faces and new friends.I'll get pictures posted as soon as I can.I can't wait until next year.

              Now for the feedback...

              Last year I had a few concerns as far as making sure our schedules were all the same as far as meeting on the water.This year,I sorda have the same.Things just seemed to work out better this year,I guess because fishing wasn't available so everyone hung out at the point.Having the "center" in FWB has got to change.Everyone seems to be closer to the point and the pass.SPC is an awesome location and gets my vote.Setting the dates dates as soon as possible also helps with the planning.I would love to be able to go ahead and get my reservations because I know where I want to be the third weekend in June.

                Welcome back, boys and familys! It's great to read all the wonderful threads and see all the pics of the Destin Funament. Thanks for the updates along the way. It sounds like it was 100% a homerun. Still wish I could have been there. SNG

                  Thanks for filling the need to keep this event happening this year. I enjoyed my brief time with everyone on Friday. I will have to do my own plans better next year (Stay in Destin, instead of boating over from Pensacola each day). Cindy is willing to help with Lisa (NJ Mako) and help organize some items next year if needed.

                    I talked to Sailor today via texting. My LORD can that guy stamp out some messages! I relayed the info and I think he is good with it. He did express some concern about SPC for parking? I'm sure we can overcome that. We hope to have dates set before the end of next month. I think that will really help. I'd love to see the girls get together and get some female ideas / plans. If they are happy, we are happy. Keep the suggestion box full. Any and all info, feedback, concerns, ect... are welcome.

                      So far this is what I have......

                      Leo and his wife want to cook next year and will have the cooker...[][][][)][)]

                      NJ Mako's wife and some other wives are wanting to be a part of the planning of events

                      ReelAttitude has some sick contacts and wants to run the registration (printed name tags) and also mentioned a possible "hospitality" room.

                      Every e-mail I have read has a big thumbs up on SandPiper Cove.

                        Allen,

                        SPC does have a few parking issues.Last year they were very strict and wanted to know your exact plans for the trailer.This year,I don't know if it had to do with gratitude for you coming,it was very laid back.I had a very well laid out plan just incase they asked,but they almost could have cared less.Now,I know they still do not want your trailer there,they just seemed more relaxed about it.There are several pay to park storage yards within a stones throw.I left my trailer at West Marine overnight with no issues.DestinBound said that he leaves his there often,but having 25 trailers there could be a major red flag.I said all of this to say that SPC certainly has my vote for the event.Setting the dates as early as possible is a fantastic idea.I'll be booking my stay as soon as the dates are set.

                        Now,as far as a women's shopping day...that is a great idea.Lauren and Sydney love hanging in the boat and at the point,but a day at the mall would be right up their alley too.
