  • Below is a link from comments the Mayor of Destin had on the beaches and Destin area, these are positive comments, I realize it's her job to keep tourism alive for the area, but these comments do bring some assurance. This is the news I like to hear knowing I am going to be coming from such a distance....Think positive!!

      • The deal breaker for me will be if they close off the east pass with the booms. That means only bay fishing and hanging out at the point, and as much fun as that is, its a long way down,,,, So lets hope for the best.

        • An aquitiance of mine just returned (monday) from Destin and said it was just as pretty as ever. Went fishing 2 days with his kids and enjoyed the beaches. This is a horrible situation and a tuff call to make. Time will tell.

Dave,it's a long way for me too(although not nearly as far as you),but my patience stretches a little farther. If I can cruise the harbor, hang out at Noriega and/or Crab island, then I'm there. If it's unsafe to get in the water, then I'll be hanging out at my hometown beach. As many others have said, time will tell and as of now, things are still a go for me.

            • One thing is for sure, if we dont come because of the oil tragedy, I want my entry fees to go to the EC Mako club anyway, and if there are a few extra shirts, I want to buy a couple of those also....I really enjoy showing off my Classic Mako shirts and regard them as "Dress shirts" heheheh[][]
