  • Funament report 6/21

Friday was one of those great days to be on the water. The water was beautiful and the seas calm and those that stayed inshore in the Gulf caught several kings, bonito, etc. Several people ran offshore yesterday, but the dolphin and wahoo did not cooperate.

Today was much tougher with a strong West wind about 10 - 15 which made for some very choppy conditions - the kind of day with spray over the bow and lots of chop! Many people fished within a mile or two of the pass and the small kings and bonito were very cooperative. We caught several small kings and bonito on my boat and twice had a double hook up! [8D] One member called this afternoon and said he caught and released about a 70 lb Tarpoon. The Michigan boys were out there in full force and I heard them at least once on the radio that they had a nice king in the boat. [)]

A couple members choose to fish inshore today and some of the kids caught several trout and a few black snapper. It seems today the fish really turned on and everyone was enjoying a good bite.

The banquet is in a few hours and we will be sure to get pictures.
