  • Destin 5/18 Fishing report

courtesy of our friends at Half Hitch tackle:

Fishing for king mackerel is in full swing and they can be caught from the bridge rubble throught the southeast rocks and out to the edge. Just about any rock, reef or wreck is holding kings. Schoolie Dolphin are in the 6 to 20 mile range on some wrecks and any floating debri or grass patches. Bottom fishing is staying good with nice catches of snapper and amberjack. Snapper have been good on boston mackerel and amberjack on jigs. Offshore the large dolphin, wahoo and tuna bit has been excellent form the nipple out to the spur and the squiggles. The pier has been loaded with ladyfish and hardtails, they have had some excellent king runs, huge spanish and a few cobia. Also lots of tarpon sightings but none hooked. The surf is still producing pompano but has slowed form what it was, lots and lots of sharks though. The jetties are holding plenty of hardtails, blues, reds and some spanish. Trout have been good in the bayous around Niceville and the Santa Rosa sound.
